10 Talented Teens To Hit Stage At Englewood Idol Fundraiser

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. – Talented teens from four Englewood schools will sing and dance their hearts out for charity at the 11th annual Englewood Idol show this month.

The fundraising event will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at the Bergen Performing Art Center in Englewood.

Students hope to raise $5,000 for the Dr. John Greico Scholarship Fund.

The fund is a nonprofit run by students at Dwight Morrow High School and the Academies@Englewood.

They are hoping to top last year's attendance of 1,300.

Students participating in January’s show also came from the Dwight-Englewood High School and The Eagle Program at Dwight Morrow High School.

This year’s Englewood Idol Semi-finalists, and their schools, are:

  • Rebekah Han (A@E)
  • Amanda Haroutunian (D-E)
  • Eric Lee – (A@E)
  • Yume Murphy (A@E)

  • Lance Talton (EAGLE)
  • Maurice West-Mouzone (DMHS)

The winner of last year’s Idol was Omarr Kaba, then a senior at A@E.

The judges panel will feature acclaimed judge of the Food Network's hit show "Cupcake Wars," Florian Bellanger; as well music producer Arejay Ella, the newest member; and Janis E. Dismus Middle School,'s musical director, Christopher Tisdale.

The show's musical director is Niaree Thomas, former first runner up of 2015 Englewood Idol; Social Studies teacher Judy Aronson is the producer; DMAE Language Arts teacher Mindy Rochman is the director; DMAE Information Systems teacher Mitchell Ravitz is the technical director.

Tickets can be purchased at the main offices of Dwight Morrow High School or Janis E. Dismus Middle School.
