TENAFLY, N.J. -- Kids and adults will enjoy a visit to the Tenafly Nature Center to take part in its annual Terrific Turkeys event Nov. 22.
Visitors, ages 3 and older can discover the real lives of wild turkeys at 3:30 p.m. at the center, 313 Hudson Ave. Learn about hens, toms, poults, caruncles, wattles and snoods join a Tenafly Nature Center environmental educator and perform the turkey strut and learn the turkey call. You can even make a terrific turkey to take home.
The event, free for members and $5 per child for non-members, will be rain or shine. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The Tenafly Nature Center is a sanctuary for human visitors -- an island of green where bonds with nature can be renewed. Whether you have an hour or a day, the woods offer a peaceful respite from the rush of daily life. Trails are open 365 days a year. Visitors are welcome to take a 10-minute stroll to Pfizer's Pond or a three-hour hike in the woods. You can observe wildlife, go birding, take nature photos, snow-shoe, and much more.
