Sergio Mendes Brings 'Brasil 66' To Englewood's bergenPAC

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — Internationally successful Brazilian artist Sergio Mendes will perform Friday, Feb. 5 at the Bergen County Performing Arts Center in Englewood.

Producer, composer, keyboardist and vocalist Mendes’ influence on the music industry will come alive during his performance of “A Celebration of 50 Years of Brasil 66.” His work has spanned five decades and continues to evolve through new collaborations and mediums.

Mendes has recorded more than 35 albums, many of which went gold or platinum. He is a Grammy Award winner and a two-time Latin Grammy Award winner. In 2015, he was nominated for a Grammy for Best World Music Album, bringing his total to five Grammy nominations and four Latin Grammy nominations.

He also has collaborated with artists like The Black Eyed Peas, Erykah Badu, Black Thought, Jill Scott, Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, India.Arie, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Q-Tip, Stevie Wonder and Pharoahe Monch. He has performed at the White House for presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon. His hit song "Olympia" was used as a theme song for the Olympic games.
