Anna and Kasha Karkowska are featured in "60 Minutes Around the World" at 7 p.m. on the library’s main level.

The program is free and open to the public. No reservation is necessary.

The audience will be taken on a journey around the world with stories, humor and a program of classical music hits.

Songs will include Gershwin’s "Summertime,"  "Carmen Fantasy" by Sarasate, Monti's "Csardas,"  "Souvenir d'Amerique" by Vieuxtemps and much more.

By inserting stories about the music, countries, composers’ lives and times, and anecdotes between the music, the Karkowska Sisters Duo makes the virtuoso masterpieces come alive.

The program is intended to be approachable to the 21st century listener no matter his or her age or advancement in music education.

The duo consists of violinist Anna Karkowska, who has a Master of Music from the Juilliard School of Music, and pianist Kasha Karkowska, who has a Master Degree from Chopin Academy of Music.

They have won various international competitions, including the WGUC International Radio Competition. They also recorded for Polish National, Mexican and American TV and Radio including PBS (Buffalo).

The sisters have performed in many locations, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York City; Gusman Center for the Performing Arts in Miami; National Grand Theater in Warsaw, Poland; and National Center for the Arts in Mexico City, Mexico.

They also played for Pope John Paul II's 80th Birthday Gala and the UNICEF Charity Gala
