ENGLEWOOD CLIFF, N.J. -- Katerina Lallos, of Englewood Cliffs earned her Girl Scout Gold Award by raising awareness of Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge.

Katerina took video footage at RBARI and created a YouTube video to educate the public about the shelter’s services. She also ran collection drives to help spread the word about the needs of the shelter.

“I chose this project because of my love for animals, which I have had since I was a child,” Lallos said in a statement. “I believe that every animal deserves a second chance, whether it’s perfectly healthy or injured.

“Seeing and having rescued my dog from a kill shelter motivated me to raise awareness of a no-kill shelter where all the animals have a chance.”

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn and requires the completion of a leadership project of at least 80 hours.

Lallos is currently a freshman at The College of New Jersey, where she is studying counseling. She plans to continue on to graduate school to earn her Ph.D. in counseling and therapy for children and teens.
