Englewood Stigma Free Task Force Meeting Focuses On Mental Health

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- The Stigma FreeTask Force, in collaboration with the Englewood Municipal Alliance, is planning its first town hall meeting, titled “Mental Health: Let’s Talk About It.”

The event will be held at Englewood Hospital & Medical Center, Chiang Auditorium and is scheduled for Thursday, March 31, at 7 p.m.

The correlation between mental health disorders and substance use disorders is documented – they often occur in combination. For example, it is not unusual for a person with anxiety to also develop depression or a person who is depressed to misuse alcohol or other drugs, perhaps in an effort to self-medicate.

According to the Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality, in 2012, 8 percent of American adults reported they have substance use disorders. It is because of this that the Municipal Alliance recently received approval for funding from the Governor’s Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.

Special guests at the town hall meeting include Vicki Sidrow, president and CEO of Vantage Health System, and keynote speaker Eric Arauz, founder and president of Trauma Institute of New Jersey and author of "An American’s Resurrection." Advance registration is requested. Click here for more information,

The first 100 people to register will receive a free copy of Arauz’s book. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the book signing, agency distribution of information and resources, networking and light refreshments. Raffle tickets for gift baskets and certificates will be sold at this time as well.
