ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- Happy birthday to Englewood native, John Crowley, who turns 50 on Friday, April 7.
Crowley is a biotech executive and entrepreneur. He was a lawyer and a management consult, and came into the field he's now well-known for because of his children.
When two of his kids were diagnosed with a severe neuromuscular disorder and the research wasn't moving fast enough, he got involved with biotech companies. The R&D at Genzyme Corporation, under his leadership, developed a therapy which he credits with saving his children's lives.
His story was featured in a book, which became the film "Extraordinary Measures," featuring Brendan Fraser, Keri Russell and Harrison Ford.
