ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — Happy birthday to Englewood's Christina McHale!
Born May 11, 1992 in Teaneck, McHale turns 25 years old Thursday.
After living in Hong Kong from ages 3-8, the tennis player and her family returned to New Jersey, moving to Englewood Cliffs.
In 2006, she graduated from Upper School of the Englewood Cliffs Public Schools as the eighth-grade valedictorian.
McHale then left the area at 15 to train at the USTA Training Center in Boca Raton, Fla.
In June 2011, McHale won her first ITF singles title in Italy, earning $50,000.
She has played in all four Grand Slams, reaching the third round in each of the four majors.
McHale also won a bronze medal in the Pan American Games in 2011 in the singles event and a silver medal in doubles.
McHale, who currently resides in Englewood Cliffs, reached her highest mark in the rankings in 2012, checking in at No. 24.
