Gina Romano is admitted at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where for the next eight months she will undergo treatment for the cancer of the bone marrow and blood, according to a GoFundMe campaign page created to raise money for expenses related to her care.

More than $20,000 had been raised by Thursday morning.

“Your continued support brings great comfort and security during this challenging time, and for that our entire family thanks you,” Gina’s brother Frank Romano wrote in a message to supporters. “Please keep Gina in your thoughts and please help to spread the word, for every gesture makes a significant difference.”
