TEANFLY, N.J. — Nadine Shanker Haruni of Tenafly earned the "Mom's Choice Award" for her book, "Freeda the Frog Gets A Divorce."
The story is meant to help other "tadpoles" — like her own five children — cope with the difficult circumstances surrounding their parents' divorce.
The MCA evaluates products and services created for children, families and educators. Elements are scored on production quality, design, educational value, entertainment value, originality, appeal and cost, the website says.
Each item is judged on its own merit by evaluators interested in helping families grow emotionally, physically, spiritually and more.
Haruni is a member of the Society of Children’s Books Writers & Illustrators, and works as an attorney and children's yoga instructor.
