Tenafly Chosen One Of New Jersey's 'Safest Cities'

TENAFLY, N.J. -- Tenafly was chosen as one of the 50 safest cities in New Jersey by the SafeWise security company.

Tenafly came in at number 21 on the list, which identified communities with a population of more than 10,000 people in 2013 and reported complete crime data to the FBI.

"Keeping pace with new advances and technologies is one way the officers of the Tenafly Police Department help protect residents," SafeWise said in its report. "Providing roughly half a dozen community services, including home security and surveillance checks, is another way law enforcement strives to keep Tenafly as one of the safest cities in New Jersey."

SafeWise reviewed the latest FBI Crime Report statistics, comparing the number of reported violent crimes (murder, robbery, rape, and aggravated assault) and property crimes (burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson) in each city.
