ENGLEWOOD, N.J. – Johnnie M. Hammond (Truesdale), of Englewood, died Tuesday, Jan. 19. She was 94.
She was born Feb. 3, 1921, in Flat Rock Township in Kershaw, S.C., to John and Molly (Kirkland) Truesdale. She attended the Belmont Baptist Church in Westville, S.C. She and her family then moved to Englewood. She was a resident of Englewood for more than 40 years. She was a devoted member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Englewood.
She is survived by two brothers, James Sr. and Benny Truesdale; nieces Pam, Marva and Berthalee Truesdale; nephews James Jr., Jeff and Ben Jr.; and many more family and friends.
She was predeceased by both her parents; sister Carrie Smith; brothers John and Frank; niece Brenda Truesdale; and sister-in-law Rosa Lee Truesdale of Englewood.
Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Eternity Funeral Services LLC, 129 Engle St., Englewood. A funeral service will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private cremation will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cedar Lawn Crematory in Paterson.
