Bullet found at Tenafly Middle School brings bomb dog

THE REAL STORY: Police put Tenafly Middle School in “shelter in place” mode, keeping kids in classrooms for a extensive search that included the Bergen County Police K9 unit, after a student found an unfired .380-caliber bullet in a hallway.

“We had no choice but to assume there might be a weapon to go with it,” Tenafly Police Chief Michael Bruno told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Besides the K9 unit, the BCPD sent its Explosive Ordnance Disposal squad in cash any guns or ammo turned up during the Friday sweep.

Meanwhile, the other adults searched each locker and backpack without finding any guns or ammo.

Tenafly police are officially investigating to determine where the round came from.
