Checking the school in response to the 8:47 p.m. alarm, officers “noticed a suspicious-looking military bag on the second floor,” Police Chief Vincent Quatrone told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

“Officers at the scene secured the school and contacted the Bergen County Bomb Squad to check the package,” the chief said.

“It turned out to be track and field-type equipment.

“The superintendent’s office and the school principal were contacted and a review of all the school security was conducted once the school was cleared to ensure there was no breach in security,” Quatrone said, adding that video was being reviewed.
