Jeffery D. Black, 38, of Califon was standing outside the 2016 Nissan, whose front end crumpled when it slammed into an exit barrier around 1:30 a.m., the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.
He was “unsteady on his feet, swaying,” smelled of alcohol and “admitted he had been drinking” before failing a field sobriety test, Pentangelo said.
The vehicle was towed back to National.
Black, who wasn’t injured, was charged with DWI.
