“The clerk believed the man was of West-Indian descent by his accent,” Detective Capt. Timothy Torell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “He said he had problems with him in the past, but not to this extent.

“He was pretty shook up by the incident.”

Suveillance video captured images of the man entering the Monument 7Eleven yesterday and arguing with the 23-year-old clerk about the price of cigarettes, Torell said.

“At some point during the dispute, the customer pulled a knife and lunged at the clerk,” the captain said.

The clerk wasn’t hurt, he said. He told police his assailant fled in a red vehicle, possibly a Toyota, and gave them a partial license plate number.

“Between that and the video, we’re certain that he’ll be identified,” Torell said. “He’s facing several serious charges.”

If you have information about him, please call Englewood police: (201) 568-4875.
