Avigdor Eldan was being held at Queen Central booking pending extradition proceedings, Capt. Michael deMoncada told CLIFFVIEW PILOT shortly after noon today.

Police spoke with the 44-year-old victim at headquarters a short time earlier.

The diamond wholesaler called them just before 10 p.m. Sunday, saying that Eldan broke into the Roberts Court home through a back door and assaulted him.

He then took off on foot, the homeowner said.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Eldan, with $75,000 bail, charging him with aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and illegal weapons possession. They also issued a be-on-the-lookout bulletin.

deMoncada said they were concerned that Eldan might try to leave the country quickly.
