N.Y. cabbie charged with sex crime involving 15-year-old Bergen girl

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: An extradition hearing is being arranged for a Manhattan taxi driver charged with a sex crime for what prosecutors called “inappropriate sexual conduct” with a 15-year-old girl from Englewood Cliffs.

Miguel Munoz, 49, of Chelsea, is being held in a Manhattan lockup pending the hearing so that he can be brought to Bergen County to face charges of sexual assault and child endangerment, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

“Munoz [who is single] met the victim in New York City about a year ago,” Molinelli said. “It is alleged that on or about February 27, 2011, Munoz drove to Bergen County to engage in sexual relations with the victim.”

Englewood Cliffs police, after learning of the incident, contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit, Molinelli said.
