ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- Authorities on Monday said they don't suspect any organized anti-Semitic group is responsible for a swastika that was made with shaving cream and eggs on a field at Dwight Englewood High School.

A reward was being offered to help find whoever was responsible for the swastika and the word "JEWS!!" written in capital letters with exclamation marks that were discovered on the Solomon Field grass surface Saturday morning.

"Based on the totality of the evidence thus far, we do not suspect any type of organized Anti-Semitic group activity," said Detective Capt. Timothy Torell of the Englewood Police Department, which is jointly investigating with Englewood Cliffs.

"We do, however, highly believe that this event was perpetrated by either juveniles or young adults during 'Mischief Night' because of the shaving cream and eggs aspect, along with the fact that the swastika was written backwards," he said.

At the same time, the captain said, if an arrest is made, "it will be prosecuted as an act of bias intimidation.”

This field is in a residential area just off of Egan Place, directly on the Englewood/Englewood Cliffs border. Police are hoping a homeowner has surveillance video that provides some clues.
