SEE Anything? Englewood Police Investigate Abduction Report

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- Until Englewood police could confirm otherwise, they said they were treating a call of a possible abduction of a woman from a city street corner near the Fort Lee border seriously.

The alleged abduction reportedly occurred at this intersection.

The call came into the Dispatch Center just before 10:30 that "a white female had been abducted from the street at the corner of Jones and Fountain roads by an Hispanic looking male wearing dark clothing and a hooded sweatshirt [and] driving a black Jeep Cherokee," Detective Capt. Timothy Torell told Daily Voice.

Officers "converged on the area quickly and were unable to locate any victim, suspect or vehicle," Torell said.

Police were collecting and reviewing surveillance video from the area, the captain said.

He said they've also interviewed the caller.

"Many times in the past, calls like this have turned out to be a boyfriend/girlfriend argument-type thing and not a stranger abduction," Torell said. "However, we are treating it very seriously until we can confirm otherwise."

The captain asked that anyone who may have seen something or has information that could help police who are investigating the abduction report contact Englewood PD: (201) 568-2700.
