The silver Toyota went airborne and landed "deep in the woods" off the northbound parkway just past the Alpine Lookout and struck several trees before coming to rest on the other side of a small hill sometime overnight, Police Chief Michael Coppola said.

It was found heavily damaged around 7 a.m., once "daylight was able to make the scene visible," he said.

EMS and firefighters who responded found the driver dead, Coppola said."Notifications to next of kin and accident reconstruction are still ongoing," the chief said just before noon.
