TENAFLY, N.J. – A 21-year-old Tenafly man released after video showed him and a companion torching a parked car four months ago was re-arrested after police said he set fire to a piece of clothing on school property.

A judge last Friday ordered Jeanluc Dulot held in the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing on arson and criminal mischief charges.

Also taken into custody were two underage boys and a girl who face possible delinquency complaints “based upon their participation,” Capt. Michael deMoncada said Tuesday.

Middle School officials notified police last Wednesday after finding a “suspiciously burned item” on the property, deMoncada said.

Surveillance footage from the area showed Dulot and the others “igniting a piece of discarded clothing and leaving it to burn in proximity to the school,” he said.

Detective William Barnes II, the school resource officer, identified Dulot, the captain said.

The other three were also quickly identified, he said.

Daily Voice this past summer obtained surveillance video showing a man identified by police as Dulot pouring gasoline on a 2013 Honda Civic in a North Browning Avenue driveway just after 5 a.m. June 28.He was joined by a 16-year-old accomplice in police called a destructive rampage – which included the car torching, bushes set ablaze, tires slashed and vehicle windows broken in the neighborhood.

Dulot was charged with two counts each of arson, criminal mischief and criminal trespass and released, pending a detention hearing, under New Jersey’s 2017 bail reform law.
