“Two carloads of individuals, mostly from the Bronx and coming from a late-night Englewood party, entered the station’s store area in the early morning hours [yesterday],” Detective Capt. Timothy Torell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

When the employee tried stopping them from shoplifting, he was “set upon by the group and hit with objects that were for sale in the store,” Torell said. “He suffered numerous cuts and bruises.”

The group then took off with some of the items — having committed robbery and aggravated assault.

NYPD detectives were assisting Englewood investigators in the case, Torell said.

“We have significant physical evidence and very good video footage of the attack from the store’s CCTV system,” he said.

“We strongly urge those responsible to turn themselves in to our detectives before they face the prospect of being arrested in New York and having to go through the extradition process,” the captain said.
