New York Times bestselling author, Nick Bruel, writer of the Bad Kitty book series, will speak with students at the township’s three elementary schools and one upper elementary school, according to Brooke Gaslow, vice president of the Mahwah Schools Foundation.
Some lucky students -- who won school-run contests -- will even get to eat lunch with Bruel, Gaslow said.
“We get a lot of different types of grant requests from the teachers and we usually fund an author visit grant, just so that the students can be exposed to different authors and their writings … it gives them something else to be exposed to,” Gaslow said.
Through fundraising, Gaslow said the Mahwah Schools Foundation is able to “provide programming that wouldn’t normally be able to be funded by the school budget.”
The organization raises money through events like its annual gala, a ladies’ night out, and its Thunderbird Run, which this year is slated for April 23.
