TENAFLY, N.J. -- The Tenafly Education Association and the Board of Education will meet with a state mediator Nov. 9 for the second time, according to a report in NorthJersey.com.
It will be the second round of mediation since an impasse was declared in April, according to the story. Mediation is a strategic move monitored by a neutral party, the mediator, when the two sides decide reasonable progress isn’t being made by the parties alone.
Board President Edward Salaski said the significant lapse of time between the July mediation and now was caused by scheduling conflicts, and he is hopeful the school board and union can make significant progress toward a settlement of the teacher’s contract, NorthJersey.com said.
Raises and health benefits are the two major issues, according to NorthJersey.com.
