At a meeting Monday evening, the mayor and council agreed that although the field needs improvement, they will not turn all or part of the field into artificial turf using rubber-based turf, according to the report.
Instead, they will look into a cork-based fill, the story says.
They made the call after residents cited studies and articles questioning a possible link between the rubber infill used in turf with cancer and other health issues, the story says.
