Where once folks cringed at the thought of raw fish, now they crave it with Bergen County diners putting spicy salmon rolls and yellowtail scallion high on their list of “must haves.”
We asked – and you answered – giving us five of your favorite sushi restaurants. Grab your chopsticks and read below; each eatery has been profiled this week with the winner announced at the end of the month.
Akai Sushi Lounge, 11 N Dean St., Englewood, (201) 541-0086
What Makes It Good: Funny special roll names like "Pain in the Ass" (spicy tuna and lobster salad topped with shrimp tempura, red tobiko and eel sauce.), and "Devil’s Advocate (spicy yellowtail, shrimp, and cucumber topped with red and white tuna, chili sauce & black tobiko). The eatery also serves sushi tacos and sushi pizza.
Diner Like: The yellowtail and salmon sashimi and the large variety of rolls. Abdel Dominguez quotes on Facebook that it has "the best sushi on this side of the Hudson. Fish so very fresh and the creativity of the dishes is at its best."
