Stephanie Bailey, of New Milford, had major surgery and is now resting at home, “with as many friends as possible helping her cope with the reality of what’s ahead,” her friend Hillary Fraenkel wrote on a GoFundMe page she set up to raise money for Bailey’s care.

“Our intention is to help Stephanie recover and tackle this challenge head on with as little stress as possible,” Fraenkel wrote. “Our goal, and why we are asking for help, is to make sure all runs smoothly and that Stephanie is covered for any unforeseen medical issues, concerns about paying caregivers when necessary due to the effects of chemotherapy, loss of pay and other matters like rides and sustenance.”

The page was started Wednesday, and by Friday morning more than $9,000 had been raised.
