The discussion will focus on pros and cons of installing a deer enclosure for the nature center.

The enclosure proposed is an aluminum fence eight feet high and 11,000 feet long, surrounding 100 acres of the 150-acre center.

The deer population has reached four times what the area can handle without damage, center staff say, and they have eaten more than 40 percent of tree seedlings on the grounds.

Conservationists say no more than 10 percent of seedlings can be eaten by deer without affecting the long-term health and survival of the forest.

The meeting will be in the Nature Center on the premises; limited on-site parking is available. If attending, please respond to (201) 567-1265.
